Anthony Joshua Why Na?

Anthony Joshua has been criticised on social media for “sexist” comments made about his niece in an interview that has resurfaced online. In the GQ piece from March 2017, he said that he wants his son to ‘spread his wings’ but that he is ‘stricter’ with his niece.  This is sadly how most of our people think. I’m pretty sure that it’s the Naija in him speaking.

“My view is you have to be a good woman, respectful, one day you will be someone’s wife, you have to learn family morals… what it is to be a good woman”.

So, the boy doesn’t have to learn to be a good man abi? So, we should raise girls to become good wives who end up with “Jack-the-lad” husbands.  Then we will have two people coming into a marriage with the woman being good, respectful and has good family values while the man lacks these traits. How is that marriage supposed to work? I don’t know how that makes sense to him. We should raise our sons to be good responsible men that will become someone’s husband too.

Well, the girls you are raising as wives don’t want “Jack-the-lads” for husbands anymore,  so while you are busy raising your son to be “Jack-the-lad” he just might end up with “Jackie-the-lass”.

I don’t know why he didn’t just stop at “i don’t know why”.
